Role Overview
Murray Recruitment are recruiting an Operations Assistant for our client based in Bathgate.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy and fast-paced logistics organisation in a customer-focused Operations team. The successful candidate will play a key role in coordinating time-critical transport bookings, supporting customers, drivers, and suppliers to ensure the smooth delivery of services. This varied position is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and enjoys providing exceptional customer service while managing multiple priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle incoming telephone and email enquiries relating to same-day transport and logistics services
- Process customer bookings accurately and efficiently
- Monitor and track deliveries, providing updates to customers and internal stakeholders
- Liaise with drivers, suppliers, customers, and colleagues to ensure the successful completion of transport requirements
- Coordinate and manage time-sensitive shipments
- Prepare reports and maintain accurate operational records
- Support the management of specialist transport requirements and large distribution projects on a rotational basis
- Authorise invoices and assist with pricing activities
- Monitor third-party shipments and resolve any delivery queries
- Carry out a variety of administrative duties to support the Operations team
- Participate in the out-of-hours rota to support the 24/7 operation
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience within a busy office, customer service, call centre, or logistics environment
- Excellent telephone manner and strong communication skills
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- High level of accuracy and excellent attention to detail
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- A proactive, can-do attitude with a willingness to learn and develop
- Good geographical knowledge is advantageous
- Previous experience within transport or logistics would be beneficial but is not essential, as full training will be provided
Offering
- Starting salary of £25,500 per annum
- Full-time, temporary to permanent opportunity
- Monday to Friday, working an 8-hour shift between 8:00am and 6:00pm
