Job Description

Role Overview

Murray Recruitment are recruiting a Senior Tax Specialist for our client based in Lanarkshire.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established local accountancy firm, working closely with the Senior Manager and wider tax team. The successful candidate will manage a varied portfolio of personal tax clients, provide tax planning advice, and take responsibility for sole trader accounts from preparation through to submission. This role is ideal for an experienced tax professional seeking a client-focused position with autonomy and scope for progression.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of over 500 personal tax returns, including partnership tax returns
  • Ensure accurate preparation and timely submission of tax returns in line with HMRC regulations
  • Prepare and complete sole trader accounts from start to finish
  • Provide expert tax planning and advisory services, including CGT returns and payments on account
  • Review the work of tax assistants, offering guidance and ensuring high standards
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, delivering excellent service and resolving tax-related queries
  • Support the Senior Manager in ensuring overall tax compliance and service delivery

Skills & Experience

  • ATT, ACA, or CTA qualified (or working towards qualification)
  • Strong personal tax background with proven compliance experience
  • Experience in handling CGT returns, payments on account, and providing tax planning advice
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage client relationships effectively
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • Experience using Digita is desirable

Offering

  • Full-time, permanent position based in Lanarkshire
  • Flexible working hours: core hours 10am – 3pm with flexitime available between 7am – 7pm
  • Salary of £35,000 – £45,000 per annum (depending on experience)
  • 20 days annual leave plus 10 public holidays
