Overview
The Finance Assistant will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring the smooth operation of daily finance processes. The role covers a range of financial tasks, including bookkeeping, rent and factoring postings, purchase and sales ledger management, banking, petty cash handling, and nominal analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and update financial records, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Process journal entries and reconcile accounts.
- Regularly update and maintain the computerised cash-book and nominal ledger.
- Post rent and factoring payments, refunds, and adjustments onto the Housing Management System.
- Investigate and reconcile unidentified payments, liaising with internal departments and external organisations as required.
- Download, code, and process supplier invoices.
- Import and check invoice accuracy, including nominal coding.
- Process purchase payments and prepare manual cheque runs when required.
- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve any discrepancies.
- Ensure sales ledger invoices are raised in a timely manner.
- Process payments received and match them against invoices.
- Manage the petty cash float, ensuring accurate disbursement and reconciliation.
- Maintain financial records for petty cash transactions.
- Assist in nominal account reconciliation’s and financial analysis.
- Prepare schedules for management and annual accounts.
- Support the preparation of factoring invoices.
- Provide administrative support to the finance team.
- Assist in preparing financial reports and documentation.
- Support audit processes and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
Skills & Experience
- Experience in bookkeeping and financial administration.
- Knowledge of computerised accounting systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial software.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Previous finance experience is advantageous.
Offering
- Salary £14.5k – £16k per annum
- Hours: Monday – Friday, 17.5 hours per week.
- Flexible working hours available, with a minimum requirement of 2 hours per day to ensure timely management of urgent transactions.
