Key Responsibilities
- Interpret and analyse architectural drawings and performance specifications.
- Conduct detailed and accurate take-offs for fire doors and internal walls.
- Manage incoming enquiries and assess project requirements.
- Liaise with subcontractors to obtain pricing for materials and installation.
- Build comprehensive bills of quantities (BOQs) and apply appropriate margins.
- Create and submit professional quotations to clients.
- Communicate with customers to gather feedback on quotes, adjusting and resubmitting as required.
- Analyse unsuccessful quotations to understand pricing or specification gaps.
- Manage successful tenders by preparing detailed handovers for the contracts and finance teams.
- Work closely with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure cost-effective solutions.
Key Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in estimating for fire doors, steel doors, and partition systems.
- Strong understanding of fire safety standards, material specifications, and structural performance requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and technical drawings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Experience using estimation software (e.g., SchüCal, LogiKal, or similar).
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
- Confidence in dealing with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
Preferred Qualifications
- Training or certifications in fire door systems and partition wall installations.
- Experience working with Schüco, Pilkington, and other glazing/fire door systems.
- Knowledge of UK building regulations and compliance standards for fire-rated assemblies.
