Role Overview
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a small, established accountancy practice in a key leadership role. The successful candidate will bring a strong background in hands-on bookkeeping and SME finance, overseeing a team and delivering high-quality financial support to a diverse client portfolio.
This role will suit an experienced Office Manager or Finance Manager seeking to apply their skills in a dynamic and client-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of bookkeeping staff, ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Oversee a personal client portfolio, delivering bookkeeping, quarterly accounts, payroll processing, and HMRC submissions
- Prepare and present detailed management accounts for clients
- Maintain bookkeeping records up to trial balance
- Process and submit VAT returns and journals, and manage payroll functions
- Serve as the main point of contact for client queries, providing exceptional service
- Resolve escalated issues in a timely and professional manner
- Promote continuous improvement through innovation and adoption of modern technologies
Skills & Experience
- Minimum of five years’ experience in a bookkeeping or finance role within an SME
- Strong leadership and team management abilities
- Proficient in Sage; experience with Xero and QuickBooks is desirable
- Confident user of Microsoft Office applications
- Payroll experience is preferred, with training available if required
- High attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Personable, approachable, and confident engaging with a wide range of stakeholders
Offering
- Full-time, permanent position based in North Lanarkshire
- 35-hour working week: Monday–Thursday (9:00–17:00) and Friday (8:30–16:00)
